History of Upsilon Nu Zeta Chapter

Picture
On October 29, 2005 Upsilon Nu Zeta was chartered in Lancaster, TX to serve the “Best Southwest” area of southern Dallas County.  The Best Southwest area consists of the following cities:  Lancaster, DeSoto, Cedar Hill, and Duncanville.  The chapter is dedicated to promoting the ideals of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority through commitment to scholarship, service, sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood.

In the short period since chartering, the chapter has actively supported the national and traditional programs of Zeta Phi Beta such as Z-HOPE:  Zetas Helping Other People Excel.  Upsilon Nu Zeta is focused on mentoring young girls through the creation of three auxiliaries that provide mentoring to young girls from ages 4 to 18.  These auxiliaries provide mentoring, scholastic advancement through scholarships and seminars, community service activities, and self-esteem and empowerment programming.  The chapter is currently working to assist indigent mothers through its Stork’s Nest Program.  Stork’s Nest is a collaboration between Zeta Phi Beta Sorority and the March of Dimes.
